DOJ is questioning Nvidia's $12.93 billion Hugging Face deal, sources say
The US Justice Department has asked how Nvidia's $12.93 billion acquisition of open-source AI platform Hugging Face would affect competition, including whether it would let Nvidia capture a fundamental distribution point for AI, Reuters reports, citing two people familiar with the matter. The questions come as part of the DOJ's years-long probe of Nvidia's conduct, which also covers its acquisitions, investments, sales practices, its Groq licensing deal and its purchases of Run:ai and SchedMD. Nvidia declined to comment; it expects the deal, announced in September, to close in the first half of 2027.
