OpenAI plans to buy Google's Tensor Processing Units, The Information reported Tuesday, citing a person familiar with the matter. Financial terms weren't disclosed; OpenAI declined to comment. The move would go beyond the Google Cloud TPU rental Reuters first reported in June 2025, and an OpenAI job listing seeks an engineer to lead optimization of its frontier models on TPUs.
