Samsung to make AMD and Nvidia HBM base dies at second Texas fab, Maeil reports
Samsung Electronics will use its second foundry plant in Taylor, Texas, to produce base dies for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips for AMD and Nvidia, South Korea's Maeil Business Newspaper reported, citing industry sources. Construction is due to start formally this month, with the plant's entire output already secured and most of the volume going to AMD. The fab will use a 2-nanometre process and cover about 2.7 million square feet, roughly 1.5 times the size of the first Taylor plant, which has a contract with Tesla. Equipment installation is slated from February 2029, with mass production in 2030. Samsung said it could not confirm customer details.
