Super Micro-backed neocloud Argentum AI in talks for $5 billion AI chip financing
Chicago-based Argentum AI, a neocloud backed by Super Micro Computer, is in talks with a major private credit firm for a $5 billion financing deal to buy AI chips, Reuters reported, citing two people familiar with the matter. The money would pay for more chips for the Poland data center Argentum secured with DL Invest Group, and the debt is meant for chips leased to customers without investment-grade credit ratings. Argentum, founded in 2025 and led by CEO Andrew Sobko, has more than $12 billion in contracted revenue, one source said. The talks come as financing for neoclouds, which rent AI computing power to other companies, has tightened. Super Micro shares rose about 7% on the report.
