SK Data Center Arm in Talks to Fund $350 Billion AI Buildout
SK Hyper, the AI data center unit SK Telecom set up in July, is in talks with big tech firms and financial investors to fund a plan for 15GW of data center capacity in South Korea by 2035. CEO Chung Suk-geun told Bloomberg Television the first 5GW phase alone would cost about $350 billion including equipment. The company aims to raise its first outside capital by late 2026 or early 2027, will share costs with tenants and investors, and says it will pace spending to actual demand rather than commit to the whole plan upfront.
