Athenahealth lets patients connect their health records to Anthropic's Claude

Athenahealth launched athenaPatient MCP on Nov 2, a Model Context Protocol server that lets US Claude Pro and Max users connect their athenaOne health records to Claude after signing in with their athenahealth portal credentials. Patients choose which records to share, including lab results, medications, vitals, conditions, immunizations and visit history, and can revoke access at any time. Athenahealth says its agreement bars Anthropic from training on the data, and that Claude is the first assistant it has connected, with others planned.
