Top House Democrats demand Trump preserve his conversations with Grok and other AI chatbots
Reps. Jamie Raskin and Robert Garcia, the top Democrats on the House Judiciary and Oversight committees, sent President Trump a letter asking him to preserve every prompt he and his staff submitted to AI chatbots including xAI's Grok, OpenAI's ChatGPT, Anthropic's Claude and Google's Gemini in carrying out official duties, along with the responses, arguing they are presidential records under federal law. The letter follows a Time report that Trump consulted Grok before the US operation to capture Venezuela's Nicolas Maduro. The lawmakers asked for a closed-door briefing and written answers by Nov. 11 on safeguards, classified information and third-party access to the conversations. A White House official told Politico the administration preserves all records required by law.
