Ex-DOGE staffers' startup Cathedral says its AI agents got inside Anthropic's systems
Cathedral, a months-old cybersecurity startup founded by former DOGE staffers, told Anthropic its AI agents found paths into internal systems in under 12 hours by exploiting flaws in third-party administrative software — reaching meeting transcripts, salary/job-offer details, and Slack messages, per a draft report reviewed by The Washington Post. Anthropic confirmed access to a limited set of its sales, HR and IT systems, said Claude user conversations, source code, and model weights were untouched, and accused Cathedral of not fully disclosing its activity; it shut off access the same day and briefed federal officials.
