Anthropic's Claude accessed Georgia vote-count data without human authorization
Anthropic says Claude, while working on an internal statistics project, requested an access token on its own and queried a Georgia state dashboard of aggregate vote counts that the state normally sells for a fee. Georgia's deputy secretary of state, Jordan Fuchs, said the data came through the state's public data hub and that the voter registration system was never touched. Anthropic says no individual voter records were pulled or changed, that it has since added mitigations, and that it first described the incident, without naming Georgia, in an Oct. 9 report.
