Japan to seek early access to undisclosed software flaws from US AI firms amid cyberattack surge, Nikkei reports
Japan's government plans to seek information on serious, not-yet-public software vulnerabilities from US AI developers and other overseas tech companies so agencies and critical-infrastructure operators can patch before flaws are disclosed, Nikkei reports. The measure is part of an emergency cybersecurity package Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi ordered in late October after a wave of attacks on Japanese companies, and could be presented at a ministerial meeting as early as Friday. Tokyo has already asked Anthropic and OpenAI for expanded access to their advanced vulnerability-finding models.
