Canva to cut or relocate 1,271 jobs, 22% of staff, in first-ever restructure as AI reshapes design
Canva CEO Melanie Perkins told staff the design platform is reorganizing in a move affecting 1,271 people, about 22% of its workforce, with some roles eliminated and others changed or relocated to centralized hubs such as Sydney. It is Canva's first redundancy round in its 13-year history. The company will merge its Product, Growth and Platform teams into one product organization and expect most hybrid staff in the office two to three days a week from January. Perkins called this Canva's hardest year yet, saying growth has slowed for the first time as new AI technology transforms how people create and what they expect from design tools.
