Memory chip makers outearn Alphabet and other tech giants on AI demand
The five leading global memory chip suppliers, including Samsung, SK Hynix, Micron and Kioxia, posted higher combined operating and net profit than five big US tech companies, Alphabet among them, for the first time last quarter, Nikkei Asia reports, as AI data center spending drives demand that is outpacing supply. Samsung alone reported a record 107.4 trillion won ($80.4 billion) operating profit, topping Microsoft, Alphabet and Meta, while SK Hynix posted 83.33 trillion won. Nikkei notes investors are starting to question how long the boom can last.
