Wall Street banks and Blackstone line up $63 billion to finance Broadcom AI chips for Anthropic
Bank of America, Citi, Morgan Stanley and Blackstone will finance $63 billion through a new special purpose vehicle that buys Broadcom's XPU AI accelerators and networking gear and leases them to Anthropic, one of the largest debt deals tied to the AI buildout. The three banks are arranging the first-lien senior debt, about $43.5 billion according to Reuters' sources, while Blackstone provides the committed second-lien portion. Broadcom is giving lenders residual value support equal to the first-lien amount, with peak exposure of about $43 billion that amortizes to zero over five years of lease payments. Deliveries are expected to start in 2027. The deal was announced the same day Anthropic publicly filed for its IPO.
