The Kansas town that sued its own residents to clear the way for an AI data center
The Wall Street Journal reports on Edgerton, Kan., where the city sued two residents and their nonprofit after their 208-signature petition to ban large data centers qualified, rather than pass the ban or put it on the ballot. The fight centers on Dubai-based DAMAC Digital's proposed $860 million data center for AI and cloud workloads at Logistics Park Kansas City. A Johnson County judge struck the city's suit in September under Kansas's anti-SLAPP law, and residents are still pressing for a public vote.
