ByteDance, Alibaba and Tencent order more than $35 billion of Nvidia's China-compliant RTX Pro 5500 chips
The three Chinese tech giants have ordered more than 3 million of Nvidia's RTX Pro 5500 workstation cards, priced at about $11,400 each, for mostly AI inference work, Reuters reports, citing people familiar with the matter. Nvidia has told customers it cannot guarantee delivery: total China orders top 6 million while 2027 output may be capped near 3 million, and some partners were told to expect just 5% to 10% of what they requested. The card is among the most powerful Nvidia chips still allowed for sale in China under US export controls.
