Amazon's TorchNeuron lets PyTorch code run on Trainium chips without a rewrite, taking aim at Nvidia's CUDA edge
Amazon's Annapurna Labs chip unit is opening TorchNeuron, software that runs existing PyTorch code on its Trainium AI chips after a single configuration change, to all developers as a public beta. The tool has been in private preview since late last year and will be released as open source under the Apache 2.0 license at the PyTorch Conference in San Jose on Tuesday. Amazon pitches it as a way around the months of porting work that keeps many companies tied to Nvidia's CUDA software; Google is building a similar project, TorchTPU, for its own chips.
