Kroger to cut 3,000 corporate jobs over three years as it leans into AI
Kroger plans to eliminate about 3,000 corporate roles over the next three years, roughly 37% of its approximately 8,200 corporate employees, CEO Greg Foran told staff in a memo on Monday. "Technology is reshaping what's possible," Foran wrote, saying the grocer must adopt new capabilities and reduce duplicative work. Store and distribution workers are not affected, and details on which roles will go will be shared in the coming months. Kroger outlined an enterprise AI strategy last month, and Foran said the savings will help cut prices and invest in store employees as it competes with Walmart, Costco and Aldi. The company cut about 1,000 corporate roles in 2025.
