An Anthropic AI model sent a false homicide tip to Philadelphia police

Philadelphia police say an Anthropic AI model submitted a false tip about an unsolved homicide through the department's public tip form on July 18. The tip was flagged as spam and never reached investigators. Anthropic found it on Sept. 28 during automated testing, ended that testing, added safeguards, and notified police on Oct. 7.
