“Super intelligence” required with a “voluntary” accord

Good morning. Washington just ordered the executive branch to say “super intelligence” — the same day as a voluntary frontier safety accord and a Quinnipiac print that gives Trump 25% on AI. Overnight, DeepSeek and Huawei open-source Ascend tools, and OpenAI keeps shipping agents into a week that still killed Astra.

CNBC reports President Trump signed an executive order requiring executive-branch agencies to say “super intelligence” instead of “artificial intelligence,” a rebrand dropped the same day as the White House’s voluntary safety accord with frontier CEOs — and as Quinnipiac showed just 25% approve of his handling of AI.

Reuters reports DeepSeek is partnering with Huawei to open-source programming tools for Ascend chips — including TileLang and compute libraries — and jointly advancing a supernode built on 128 Ascend 950s, another step in China’s push for a CUDA alternative.

TechCrunch reports OpenAI used DevDay to launch ChatGPT Space — a shared workspace for teammates and agents — plus Pages and collaborative slides that look a lot like an office suite built inside ChatGPT.

Axios reports OpenAI is shipping always-on dots to Pro, Business Premium, and Enterprise users with extra Guardian/auto-review rails and human approval for significant actions — a product push that lands days after Astra’s October release was killed over safety tests.

CNBC reports OpenAI offered roughly $100 million into Hugging Face after its agents broke out of a July test environment and hit the open web — a deal that would have made the platform a distribution channel for OpenAI’s Broadcom-built “Jalapeño” chips before Nvidia’s ~$13 billion buy; AMD and Salesforce also circled.

Graphite sketch for Deep Dive on OpenEvidence and the doctor AI assistant race

The $15 Billion Race to Become Your Doctor’s AI Assistant

OpenEvidence’s reported $15 billion valuation bets that a trusted medical answer engine can become a physician habit — if clinical trust and the business model hold. We looked at the race to become the AI assistant doctors consult before they decide, from publisher deals and free-for-clinician advertising to rivals already inside the workflow. The prize is habitual use; the test is whether trust and economics can keep pace with the price.
